About Art
My approach is rooted in conceptual-based and figurative realism.

My artwork references portraits & figures, self-expression, social justice & activism, cultural heritage, inner feelings, and the relationships that shape our sense of self and community. Through my pieces, I examine the complexities of human forms and how they interact with the world around them.
I use materials like oil color, acrylic color, and charcoal pencils on mediums like sheets, canvas, and hardboard. My techniques are:
Overpainting; Adding layers of paint to refine and detail
Blending; Merging colors together
Drybrushing; Dragging an almost-dry brush across the canvas
Texturing; Adding physical texture with materials like sand or coarse-texture gel
Wet-on-wet; Adding layers of paint without waiting for the previous layer to dry.
